Lystra Pitts was raised among the mountain peoples of Central Nevada. The son of a mining contractor he lived in boomtowns and ghost towns across the state. He routinely had to commute over 40 miles to get to the nearest school. While living in one ghost town he attended a two room elementary school, kindergarten through third grades in one room, fourth through eighth in another. Lystra learned the way of the desert at a young age. He climbed mountains and tickled trout out of small streams. He grew to love the smell of sagebrush after a rain storm.
He moved back to civilization and graduated high school in Carson City, Nevada. He went to the University of Nevada, Reno and the University of Kent, in Canterbury England.
After college Lystra played the wild rover and travelled the world. He lived for a short time in Spain, France, and England.
Upon returning to the states he met his wife, Deana, and started raising a family. He is the proud father of a son, Weldon, and a daughter, Zenobia. They live in Sparks, Nevada with two giant dogs.
When he isn’t writing Lystra still haunts the high desert; tickling trout and climbing mountains. He can also be found with his family, waiting for the rain to fall on the sage.
